HOW WE DO THE

PREPARATION OF THE SURFACES?

Proper surface preparation is the foundation of a successful industrial flooring project. At RachTR, we understand the critical importance of preparing surfaces to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your flooring solutions. Our meticulous approach includes the following steps:

Cleaning

Before any coating application, we prioritize thorough cleaning of the surface. This involves:

  • Removing debris, dust, and loose particles to create a clean substrate.

  • Utilizing industry-approved cleaning methods to achieve optimal surface cleanliness.

  • Ensuring a dry and debris-free floor to facilitate proper adhesion of coatings.

Moisture Testing

Moisture content in the substrate can significantly impact the adhesion and performance of coatings. Our team conducts precise moisture testing to:

  • Determine the moisture levels in the concrete substrate using ASTM standards.

  • Take necessary measures if elevated moisture levels are detected, such as moisture barriers or moisture-tolerant coatings.

  • Ensure a moisture-free environment for the longevity of your industrial flooring.

Oil & Grease Removal

Contaminants like oil and grease can compromise coating adhesion and performance. We employ effective methods to:

  • Thoroughly remove oil, grease, and other contaminants from the surface.

  • Use specialized cleaning agents and techniques to achieve a pristine substrate.

  • Enhance the bonding and durability of your industrial flooring system.

Crack & Joint Treatment

Proper treatment of cracks and joints is essential to prevent future issues and ensure a seamless finish. Our process includes:

  • Inspecting and addressing any existing cracks or joints in the substrate.

  • Employing appropriate fillers and sealants to repair and reinforce cracks and joints.

  • Creating a smooth and uniform surface for the application of coatings.

Surface Conditioning

Surface conditioning plays a crucial role in enhancing coating adhesion and performance. We utilize advanced techniques such as:

  • Mechanical surface preparation methods like grinding or scarification for optimal surface roughness.

  • Acid cleaning or etching to promote chemical bonding between the substrate and coatings.

  • Achieving the ideal surface profile for maximum coating adhesion and durability.

FRESH SURFACE

On a fresh surface prior to coating, the following points should be taken care of:

  • New concrete must be thoroughly dried and cured. A minimum of 28 days should be given for curing.

  • The concrete surface should be finished with a light steel trowel.

  • Remove oil, grease, laitance, and other foreign materials from the surface. Mechanical methods like vacuum blasting, scarification, or grinding are most effective.

  • Any resinous system should be installed after checking the surface for dampness.

  • Floor Joints shall be taken into account while selecting the multiple sections for coating.

OLD COATED SURFACE

On the old coated surface, prior to the new coating, the following points should be taken care of:

  • Check if the old coating is bonded to the surface.

  • Any loose coating must be removed completely, and the edges sanded to a feathered edge.

  • The floor should be properly grinded, and it should not have any gloss, or else the binding won't be proper.

  • Floor Joints shall be taken into account while selecting the multiple sections for coating.
